Why KilnStack
Get the studio out of spreadsheets and off the whiteboard
KilnStack is the operating system for a working ceramic studio. It replaces the tangle of spreadsheets, sticky notes and guesswork with one tool built around how ceramics is actually made.
Know your real numbers
Every recipe, kiln and labor rate rolls up into the true cost and margin of each piece — so you price to actually make money.
Never lose a piece
Work in progress is tracked by stage, from greenware to shipped, and updates itself as makers finish their tasks.
Fire with confidence
Plan each firing, pack the kiln shelf by shelf from its real dimensions, and see what fits before you load.
One workspace for the studio
Catalog, materials, production, inventory and kilns in one place — the whole team working from the same picture.
Features
Everything a studio runs on — module by module
Each part of KilnStack maps to something you already do by hand. Here's what that looks like.

Catalog
Your whole catalog, with photos and variants
Every product, its colors and finishes, dimensions and sellable SKUs — with real product photography. Search and filter by type, so the piece you need is one click away.
- Variants, colors & finishes
- Product photos
- Filter and search by type

Materials
Glaze & clay recipes that do the math
Store every glaze and clay-body recipe by parts. KilnStack scales any batch, shows the exact weigh-out for each material and the water to add, and totals the real cost per kilogram from your material prices.
- Batch scaling & weigh-out sheets
- Cost per kilo from your prices
- Mix your own or buy commercial

Pricing
Know the true cost — and margin — of every piece
Pick a product and a glaze, type in a price, and see the full breakdown: clay, glaze, labor and kiln electricity, your gross margin and margin percent. Stop guessing and price with confidence.
- Clay + glaze + labor + energy
- Gross margin & margin %
- Answer in seconds, per piece

Production
ProductionPlan the whole day, stage by stage
A board for every production day — raw materials, molds, greenware, bisque, glazing, glaze firing, packing and shipping. Assign quantities to each stage, or repeat yesterday in a single click. Unfinished work rolls into the backlog automatically.
- A column for every production stage
- Assign work or 'repeat yesterday'
- Backlog carries forward

Production
ProductionEvery maker sees exactly what to do
Workers get a clean card per job — the product, the glaze, how many to make, and how many are available to pull from the previous stage. They tap Done, and your inventory advances to the next stage on its own.
- Per-worker task cards
- Live 'available' counts
- Done advances inventory automatically

Production
ProductionPack the kiln before you load it
KilnStack lays out each firing shelf by shelf from your kiln's real geometry, tells you how many shelf levels you'll need, and flags anything that won't fit — so you never open a full kiln with pieces left over.
- Shelf-by-shelf top view
- Fits / doesn't-fit check
- From your kiln's real dimensions

Why we built it
Built inside a real working studio
KilnStack didn't start as software. It started as the tangle of spreadsheets, glaze notebooks and whiteboard schedules we used to run our own ceramics studio — pricing pieces by gut feel, losing track of what was in bisque, and opening kilns we'd packed wrong.
So we built the tool we wished existed: recipes that cost themselves, production you can actually see, and kilns you can pack on a screen before you load them. Every screenshot on this page is the real product, running a real studio.
Now it runs studios beyond ours, too.
FAQ
Questions, answered
Is there a free trial?
Yes — every plan starts with a 30-day free trial. A card is required to start it, and you can cancel anytime before the trial ends and you won't be charged.
What's the difference between Solo and Production?
Solo is for one person and includes catalog, glaze & clay recipes, true-cost pricing, quotes & clients, and packaging. Production adds multiple users with owner, manager and worker roles, materials & ware inventory, kiln configuration, and the shop-floor tools — the Task Scheduler, per-worker task pages and the Kiln Layout Planner.
Can I try it without signing up?
Yes. The live demo is a real, read-only KilnStack studio loaded with a sample catalog, recipes and production data. Click “Try the live demo” — no account needed.
Do I own my data? Can I export it?
Your studio's data is yours. Each studio runs fully isolated from every other, and you can export it. If you cancel, your data is retained for 30 days before removal.
How do I add my team?
On Production, invite people by email and give them owner, manager or worker roles. Solo is a single user — upgrade to Production anytime to bring your team on.
Can I change plans later?
You can upgrade from Solo to Production anytime and only pay the prorated difference. To move down a plan, just get in touch and we'll help.
